Minocqua Island Swim Challenge Information

About the Event

Date: Saturday, June 24, 2017

Course: One mile OR 400 meter, open water in Lake Minocqua

Purpose: Help support the heroes of the Oneida County Dive Team. The Swim is a fundraiser for the Oneida County Dive Team. The Oneida County Dive Team consists of 5 law enforcement officers and 8 civilian divers. They provide immediate response to water related emergencies throughout Oneida County. They cover 443 lakes and over 72,000 acres of water. The Dive Team helps keep our residents and thousands of visitors safe every year.

Entry: The cost to enter is $40.00 and includes a commemorative t-shirt, swim cap, goody bag and finish line food. *The first 150 entries will receive a race t-short and goodie bag.

Course Information

The start will be in waist deep water. The finish will be an in-water line between two buoys in waist deep water. The course is out and back from Torpy Park to a buoy near the island, turning around the buoy and returning to the park. There will be large buoys marking the course every 200 yds with smaller buoys in between. For safety reasons, swimmers will be required to swim along the marked course and may be steered by safety monitors if they get off track. The organizers of this event will provide kayak escorts for the race.

Race Event

You should have adequate fitness to complete this event- Open water swim experience and the ability to swim 1 mile. Swimmers are required to complete the event within 90 minutes.

Lake Minocqua water temps will be between 60-70 degrees. Wetsuits will be allowed.

Race Postponement/Cancellation Policy

This event will take place rain or shine, with the exception of hazardous conditions such as lightning, high winds or hail. Race officials reserve the right to cancel or postpone the event in such conditions.
